Scott's short poems are about everything and anything. In this selection of eight poems, we come across a mermaid, a young woman who doesn't want to wake up early, musings on luck, a call to arms, and more. Each poem is short and easily digestible for pupils, even those who aren't keen on literature, and is accompanied by three understanding questions, and one open-ended prompt. Thematic questions, which ask the students to find similarities between the poems, are provided separately and can be used as a stretch activity. A word bank is also provided so that pupils can look up unfamilar words.
