Posters

In 2024, 25 posters were submitted for the Symposium. You can see the the poster e-booklet here. The posters aligned with the Symposium’s theme Embracing Diversity: Supporting Inclusive Learning Communities, and illustrated ways in which we are addressing the theme. All posters were displayed on digital screens, there were no posters displayed in hard copy.

Poster Competition Winners

Two awards were made this year:

1. The Digital Accessibility Award 

This award was selected by a judging panel consisting of the five eLearning Support Assistants working within the Centre for Academic Development, who received extensive training in digital accessibility to deliver the Course Accessibility Service.

The posters were judged on adherence to digital accessibility standards including:

  • Legibility and clarity of the way information is presented.
  • Logic of the reading order, including when using assistive technologies.
  • Sufficiency of the colour contrast between text and background.
  • Availability of text alternatives for visual content. 
  • Use of a variety of methods to convey information.


2. The Popular Vote Award Voting instructions

This award was voted for by the Symposium delegates on the day. While judging the posters for the Popular Vote Award, attebdees were encouraged to use the following criteria:

  • Creativity, visual appeal and flair of the poster.
  • Legibility and clarity of the information presented.
  • Balance of text and diagrammatic information.
  • Succinctness of the information presented.
  • Innovative teaching and learning or research content.
The Digital Accessibility Award

Claire Molloy, Pauline Fraser, Kim Richmond, Tim Riley, Sarah Todd and Lida Rocmanova were awarded the Digital Accessibility Poster Award for their 'Making Your Teaching Materials More Accessible' poster.

The Popular Vote Award

Changel Jolly, Emily Cleland, Kirsty Kiezebrink, Catherine Ogilvie and Sara Preston were awarded the Popular Vote Poster Award for their poster titled 'Students’ Perspectives on Generative Artificial Intelligence'
