Writing the Nation

Do we understand places through their representation in media? How did Scott represent the connection between people and place in his work? And how does this compare to writers from other places? This unit, which should take three or four lessons, compares an extract from a Chinese short story to an extract from one of Scott's poems. The pupils will develop their reading comprehension skills, their ability to see different points of view, and their understanding of a place of their choosing.
