University promote renewable energy expertise at All Energy exhibition

Renewable energy experts from the University of Aberdeen will come together with industry leaders at the UK's largest green energy exhibition in Aberdeen this week.

Members of the University’s Aberdeen Institute of Energy (AIE) will have a significant presence at the event (May 21-22) which will host more than 600 exhibitors.

During the two days, a number of world-class academic staff will be present from a wide range of energy related areas, including Energy Law, Carbon Capture and Storage, Renewable Energy Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Management and Business.

Staff will showcase their current research activity and be available to discuss ways for industry to engage further- download the details here.

“All Energy is a great opportunity for the University to showcase its breadth of energy research and teaching capabilities to industry,” said AIE Executive Director, John Scrimgeour. “We are keen to engage with organisations and will be looking to discuss a range of ways that they can get involved with us - research collaborations, degree programme support, graduate employment etc.

“Individuals looking to learn about CPD or Masters level study opportunities should come along and find out about our wide range of Energy related courses and programmes.”

Around 8,000 visitors from nearly 50 countries will flock to the event at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.

Professor Paul Mitchell added: “We have a wider portfolio of topics related to renewable energy than any other university.

“Particular strengths are in biomass and bioenergy - from sustainable land use to catalytic processes for the production of transportation fuels. We are at the leading edge of research in fuel cells and hydrogen technologies for a range of applications, including marine energy.

“We have a strong focus too on environmental science, much of which is centred on environmental impact of the energy industries, the impact of global climate change on soils and ecosystems and options for mitigation.”
