Brief:   The seminar will provide a review of neural-based approaches to sequence classification from feed-forward networks to recurrent neural networks and finishing with the neural Turing machine.   Bio:   I obtained a PhD in computational chemistry at Leeds University looking at symbolic and statistical approaches to the diagnosis of endocrine metabolites. Whilst a research fellow with King's College London, I explored the use of AI and statistics to medical decision making, and then went on to teach AI at the University of East London. I have edited and contributed to two books on the application of AI to medicine: one on neural networks for clinical decision making; the other on probabilistic models. I am now a mathematician and computer scientist at Cambridge University modeling within-host dynamics of infections
