Research within the School of Natural & Computing Sciences is founded on its strong academic disciplines whose internationally leading academic staff help to create an academically challenging, engaging and supportive environment. Within this environment staff and research students pursue pure and applied research together which in turn drives and informs the teaching programmes.
Research ranges from fundamental research to applied projects, many of which are carried out in close partnership with industry. There are strong links between Disciplines , and a number of research areas span Disciplines and Schools across the College and the University. Researchers in the School consistently perform extremely well in the UK Government-led Research Assessment Exercise.
The School has a truly international perspective on its research activities, with a number of internationally renowned and internationally active staff, and an increasing number of formal international research collaborations.
