From healthcare users' preferences to shared decision-making in the medical encounter: key messages and future issues in France
Associate Professor, Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University
Abstract
Our research project seeks to achieve a dynamic "balance" between standardizing collective concerns and individual preferences that are not necessarily all in line with collective standards. We want to study how, at the individual and collective level, we can help resolve posture conflicts in order to obtain options that make it possible to propose care technically feasible, economically viable, acceptable and desired by individuals. In this goal we develop research projects focused on healthcare consumers’ preferences using discrete choice experiment and contingent valuation sometimes integrated in decision aids that aim to promote a shared decision-making approach in health with a special focus in cancer area.
