The Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS) is actively involved in teaching and coordinates a range of taught programmes and courses in applied health sciences.

We also contribute to various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across the University and have developed a set of short courses, provided independently by our research groups, which are tailored specifically to provide training on their area of expertise.

Taught Master’s Degree Programmes

Our interdisciplinary Masters Programmes are taught by renowned academics and expert practitioners/clinicians to give you a holistic understanding of the subject. The courses within the programmes will enable you to gain knowledge and experience, with a competitive edge, oriented towards the pursuit of a professional or academic career.

Please note that students can choose to do a PG Cert or PG Diploma in most of our Masters Programmes.

PhD and Research Masters Programmes

We offer flexible ‘on-campus’ and ‘distance learning’ Doctorate and MSc by research programmes. Comprehensive knowledge of the topic along with critical thinking and analytical skills that are gained through your research degrees will make you an expert in the field and will open up career opportunities.

*Please note that PhDs and Masters by Research can be developed with supervisors or it is advertised on FindaPhD.

On-campus PhD

Short courses

We offer topic-specific short courses – developed and delivered by the academic research groups in their particular area of expertise. In addition, we offer ‘stand-alone’ courses you can study on its own or you can build it to a full Masters degree. List available on the link below.

CPD Courses

Specific courses offered by our research groups that are independent of our core programmes and courses and provide training in applied epidemiology, SPSS, medical statistics, and dietary assessment methods.

Postgraduate Education Research Group (PERG)

Our educational research team focuses on innovating and evaluating novel approaches to teaching, learning and assessment, as well as student support. We support theory-based research which impacts the way how we teach and support our students, providing a supportive and conducive environment for learning and engagement.
