University of Edinburgh: Centre for Statistics Launch

The University of Edinburgh is establishing a new Centre for Statistics (CfS). The vision for the Centre is to act as a focus for statistical activity across the University, to promote the establishment of innovative inter-disciplinary statistical research programmes, provide effective communication of statistical ideas to an academic and external audience and to be at the forefront of training the next generation of statisticians and data scientists.The establishment of the CfS is being spearheaded by the School of Mathematics, but the Centre will span across all three colleges within the university, uniting statisticians and quantitative researchers working in different areas. To mark the start of the Centre we are planning a launch event for the afternoon of November 6th. The launch event will feature a range of talks to introduce the Centre and showcase statistical research from across the University.

There is no charge for attending the launch event, but this registration page is to enable us to keep track of numbers for catering and planning purposes. If you are interested in attending the event please sign up here.

This launch event will be the first of the events for the CfS - with additional events planned for the future including the inaugural David Finney Centenary Lecture, Annual Statistics Day, interdisciplinary research meetings etc. We will also be setting up a mailing list for individuals who wish to be a member of the CfS.
