Professor Gary Macfarlane from the Institute of Applied Health Sciences has been in Warsaw this week building on current research links with university and medical researchers in the city.
He has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Medical University of Warsaw to work together on research activities covering “public health, epidemiology and environmental medicine”. The IAHS already has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Division of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie National Cancer Centre, whose director, Professor Witold Zatonski was awarded an honorary degree by the University of Aberdeen in 2014, and which collaboration has resulted in collaborative projects, a jointly supervised Phd at Aberdeen, and a week-long epidemiology course. Plans are now to deliver a further course in 2016 to include clinical trials.
