Why did you choose to apply to the University of Aberdeen?
The University of Aberdeen is very well known for its highly reputed educational system provided to its students. Furthermore, Aberdeen is a very well reputed university in term of prospective graduates jobs. In addition, I choose to do the MSc in Petroleum Engineering at Aberdeen because it is one of the top universities worldwide teaching this major. The facilities it offers in terms of educational student life is significant. The teaching staff in the university is very well qualified.
What has been the best part of your experience so far?
The best experience so far was the course called Field Development Project. This course taught me how to use numerous software programmes related to petroleum engineering. I have learned from it how to model a reservoir field and study its economical outcomes. In addition, we were able to use specific software like Petrel and others to simulate the reservoir, study the original oil in place, the porosity and permeability of the reservoir and many other things. Moreover, we got specific training on many important software tools conducted by experts from companies like Schlumberger. In addition this course was also supervised by experts in the field, whom I learned a lot from.
How do you think your programme will assist for career ambitions?
Because of the connection that the University of Aberdeen has with numerous petroleum companies, and because the university is well known worldwide for teaching the petroleum engineering MSc program, this is a very important point when applying for a job. In addition, lets not forget that University of Aberdeen is conducting numerous research with petroleum companies to improve this field. In addition, getting a degree of MSc Petroleum Engineering from Aberdeen is a key point in our future petroleum career application. The experience we gain during our program helps us also during our job interview.
