I gaed tae the fair,
An the army were there.
They gaed me a drink
And I couldna think...
An aff I gaed tae the war.
Ma friens, tae, war tricked
We struggled an kicked
Richt through the war we went.
We bedd in a tent,
Made fires oot o logs,
Focht oor wye through fogs.
Bit ae dusky nicht,
We had tae fecht
Against the Germans.
They crawled ben the ground,
Bit they were aa found
We sniped them doon
The sicht brocht a froon
Half lay still an deid
As the English led
Richt through the battle.
