Part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival
We are honoured to host Brazilian anthropologist, Betty Mindlin (University of São Paulo), as part of the 2016 Scottish International Storytelling Festival.
Join us as she shares some of the myths and traditions of the Suruí Paiter people from Rondônia in western Brazil. This will be a unique opportunity in Aberdeen to listen to stories from Brazil and to learn about Betty's important work.
Betty has worked with and on behalf of indigenous people in Brazil for many years, and has insisted on indigenous rights with regard to land claims, healthcare, and education. In collaboration with the storytellers themselves, Betty has published many books of stories from the Amazon, including Barbecued Husbands and Other Stories from the Amazon and Unwritten Stories of the Suruí Indians of Rondonia.
