Description
A fairly recent addition to the regions collection of cut metal signs showing the current favourite iconography of a man with a pair of horse and a plough. Behind is an older primitive painted board sign now almost illegible.
Related Information
It is very interesting, from an anthropological point of view that this nostalgic subject has such predominance for new signs, by contrast signs that were actually produced when working horses were still the norm are far more likely to show a horse alone almost as an icon, usually in full harness wearing the characteristic extreme high peaked Scots collar of the district (see related artefact "Coldwells Sign" for comparison, the collars on this pair seem to be southron in style).
