Illegible **** to*** in? presence quhair thou seest men talk in silence. Sen word is thrall & thocht is free Keip well thy tonge I counsel thee.

That thing quhilk in another thou art wont to bleame, Be weill war that thou offend not in the same. For it is a very sheame, quhē a mon wil preache, Gif yet hi dedes against his wordis do teache.

Be thou of mynd baith constant & strang, thoct in thy cause the judge do the wrang, For surlie thy adversaries all not lang enjoy, That qlk he winneth, be lik wickit way.

Doe no thing as thou art of power & micht, Bot let thy doings, be of justice & richt. Let thy justice be indifferent, & thy judgement richt, Juge wrang to no man be power or micht

Loke quhat law thou doest make upon other, Be not aggrieved in thy self, the same to suffer. He that above the law hes micht Will borrow a litill mare then richt.

I think mony maters wald cum to pas weill, Gyf first of thy self thou wildest tak counsell : Gyf thou waldest other mens counsell tak, Be sure to follow the best & evil forsaik.

Put hoipe in god & for no wraike take feir, For rwit of all evill is gredines of geir, Be godlie & honest, both mirry & vertous Gif thou wald pleas god, & anger ye *******.
