Description
Relief carved stone panel in an architectural style with crenellated top and side columns, with armorial decoration, memorial to the Rt. Hon. Sir Robert William Duff of Fetteresso, Governor of New South Wales 1893-95. Presented by the 'women of New South Wales' as a tribute of sympathy to Lady Duff.
Related Information
The armorial supporters are interesting to compare with the 1834 Duff Memorial at St. Ciarán's Kirk Stonehaven (see related artefacts), which commemorates another Robert William Duff of Fetteresso (this man's grandfather?) they are much more casually dressed, is this because of the later date or is it a reflection of Australian sartorial fashions at the time?
Era
1800s
