Prof Jen Cleland, director of CHERI, and Dr Ruby Roberts, CHERI Post-doctoral Researcher, have had their paper "Using paradox theory to understand responses to tensions between service and training in general surgery” accepted for publication in Medical Education. The paper focused on examining the tensions between service and training in pressured health care environments which can have a detrimental impact on training quality and job satisfaction. The data suggested reframing the service-training paradox in this way may encourage adjusting responses to create effective working partnerships.
