Professor Jen Cleland was one of the keynote speakers at the Clinical Skills Managed Educational Network (CSMEN), Stirling, Scotland, March 2017. Jen was invited to speak on the topic “Simulation based education: understanding the social-cultural complexity of a surgical boot camp”. The study which formed the basis of Jen’s talk was funded by CSMEN. The paper from the study was published in Medical Education in 2016, and won the inaugural Copenhagen Academy for Medical Education and Simulation (CAMES) Award for Best Research in Medical Simulation, 2016.
