RAG Week - not just for students!

RAG Week - not just for students!

University staff are reminded that it's not only students who can take part in this year's RAG (Raising and Giving) Week.

Whether it's putting a pound in a charity bucket or taking part in a Bungee Jump on King's Lawn, staff can help the Student Association to raise much needed funds for a host of local charities.

Raising and Giving (RAG) is the major student fundraising group at the University of Aberdeen, and is one of the country’s longest-running fundraising campaigns of its kind. Every year hundreds of students work tirelessly to organise events and collections to raise tens of thousands of pounds for local charities across Aberdeen and the North-East of Scotland. Events in the RAG calendar include the annual Student Show at His Majesty’s Theatre and the Torcher Parade. In 2013/14 RAG raised over £90,000 for over 37 different local charities!

RAG Week is taking place from November 3 - 9 and is a whole week dedicated to fundraising. Events throughout the week include a RAG Ceilidh Bash, an Acoustic Night @ The Bobbin and a RAG Bagpack.

From Monday to Wednesday,  RAG is launching the £1 Challenge which asks every person at the University of Aberdeen to donate £1 to charity.  This would give RAG the power to fundraise over £17,000. Look out for Challenge Champions all over campus and drop £1 in their bucket!

On Thursday RAG is bringing back the hugely successful RAG bungee jump! Situated on King’s Pitches  this is the chance to do something amazing for charity AND see Aberdeen from 175ft in the air! Registration is only £30 plus a minimum of £60 fundraising. This event is open to both students and staff. Sign up here: http://www.ausa.org.uk/ents/event/928/
