Shared Parental Leave

Shared Parental Leave

Regulations under 'The Children's and Families Act 2014' introduced changes to parent's rights to take leave in the first year of a baby's life or when a child is placed with them for adoption.

Shared Parental Leave (SPL) is the new legal entitlement for eligible parents of babies due, or children placed for adoption, on or after 5 April 2015.

The University’s Shared Parental Leave Policy outlines the rights and entitlements for pregnant/adopting staff members and their partners and can be found in the Policy Zone.
