Increased data storage for researchers

Increased data storage for researchers

Now each PI is entitled to up to 2TB of secure network storage, at no cost.

25% of research staff who took part in this year’s IT Services survey do not routinely use centrally managed filespace for storing data, often citing cost or lack of space as the reason. Given the potential risk of data loss, this is a worrying figure.

In response, we’re pleased to announce an increase in network storage for researchers.

Now each Principal Investigator (PI) is entitled to up to 2TB of secure network storage, at no cost.

We hope this increase will support your requirements to meet with University policies and guidance on research data storage and management.

If you need additional storage, please contact the Service Desk.

Researchers who anticipate needing more than 2TB should include the cost of data storage in their research funding applications. Please contact the Service Desk for guidance.
