Dear Colleagues,
The latest meeting of the Financial Recovery Group was held on Wednesday, 14 August and we wanted to provide you with an update on our discussions.
At this week’s meeting we reviewed the framework for tracking progress across the full range of activities to ensure financial recovery. From next week the group will do deeper dives into each area. At this week’s meeting we also agreed our approach to the risk management of the financial recovery, and in the same way we will look in greater detail at any individual risks in the coming weeks.
Our call for suggestions from the community on how to support financial recovery has received a wide range of suggestions, for which we are very grateful. This week we reviewed all the suggestions received to date and the actions that have been taken as a result to ensure that each suggestion is receiving full consideration. All contributions are being individually acknowledged, while maintaining anonymity (unless a contributor agrees to waive anonymity to allow individual detailed follow up discussions to take place). We will provide a summary of ideas received and how the idea has been considered, and where possible adopted, in a future update. Please continue to send suggestions to financialrecovery@abdn.ac.uk.
We also continue to monitor the external environment for any opportunities or challenges. Thankfully, the recent period of violent unrest in the UK appears to have passed and we hope that those countries that have issued warnings against travel to the UK will lift those warnings as soon as possible.
A current focus is on Clearing, which we hope will make a positive impact on our undergraduate student recruitment figures. The team did a great job promoting the Aberdeen offer in Clearing for Scottish students last week, and today attention turns to Clearing for students from the Rest of the UK following the publication of A-Level results.
The Financial Recovery Group will continue to meet regularly. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, 21 August and a further update will follow after that.
