Winter Graduations Invitation to Process

Winter Graduations Invitation to Process

Invitation to process at the upcoming Winter Graduation ceremonies

Dear Colleague,

GRADUATION CEREMONIES

WEDNESDAY 22 & THURSDAY 23 NOVEMBER 2023

As you may already be aware, this year's Winter Term in-person graduation ceremonies will take place on Wednesday 22 November at 11:00 am and at 3:00 pm and Thursday 23 November at 11:00 am and at 3:00 pm at The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA).

Academic and Academic-Related colleagues (Grade 5 and above) are eligible for the academic procession. If you would like to attend any of the ceremonies and take part in the Academic Procession, you should complete the application form which can be accessed here - and submit it no later than Friday 27 October. Details of the degrees to be conferred at each ceremony can also be accessed via the address above.

All members of the University taking part in the Procession should wear dark clothes and (if entitled to do so) academic dress, with the gentlemen wearing white bow ties. Please note that the Registry’s stock of white bow ties is very limited and the loan of one cannot, therefore, be guaranteed.

Ede & Ravenscroft have been appointed as the University’s official robe suppliers and will provide staff with academic dress without charge providing the order is placed before the deadline.

Processing instructions will be despatched approximately one week before the graduation ceremonies.

Support staff and technical staff (Grades 4 and below) are eligible to apply for a ticket to attend a graduation ceremony as part of the audience. Ticket allocations are subject to availability.

Further, all colleagues can volunteer to usher at graduation ceremonies. Spaces for ushers are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like to take part as an usher, please contact academicservices@abdn.ac.uk.

It is necessary for me to know by Friday 27 October how many will be attending the ceremonies to enable us to place the staff gown order in sufficient time to avoid staff being charged for the hire of their robes. Your cooperation in submitting the form by this date will therefore be very much appreciated.

Best wishes,

Mr Liam Dyker

Acting Assistant Registrar
