Areas of King’s College campus are due to close in April as work begins to transform the historic centre of campus.
The enabling works, which will include the redirection of mains water and district heating pipes, takes place between 1 April and 21 April to align with University holidays and minimise disruption.
Regent Walk will be closed between these dates, from the entrance to the Kings Playing Fields to Elphinstone Lawn. Parking at the Taylor car park will be accessible only from St Machar Drive/Dunbar Street. Access to parking at the University Office will remain accessible from King Street.
Elphinstone Hall, The Old Senate Wing, the Bookstack and the Linklater Rooms will also be closed for fire safety reasons. There will be temporary disruption to heating and hot water when connections are made.
Users of the affected buildings have been notified and alternative arrangements have been made to ensure business continuity.
A trial dig will be undertaken this Saturday, 11 March, to locate existing mains water pipes, and Regent Walk will be closed for the day.
If anyone has any questions regarding the closures then please contact Claire Akparanta, Estates Project Manager, at claire.akparanta@abdn.ac.uk
