The staff survey takes place every two years and is an important barometer of culture, morale and staff satisfaction. You can see a top-level reminder of the 2022 survey results here.
You can also now see the results for each School and Directorate (Please scroll to the left to read the questions in column B of the spreadsheet). These results have been collated into a ‘heat map’ indicating the results for each School / Directorate in comparison with the overall university average for each question:
- Dark blue – over 10% higher than the University score
- Light blue – 5-10% higher than the University score
- Amber – 5-10% lower than the University score
- Red – over 10% lower than the University score
Next Steps
Heads of School and Directors now have access to the results for their own areas, including the anonymised free text comments. They will hold presentations for their staff, and thereafter each School and Directorate will develop and implement plans to address the feedback.
At University level it is clear from the questions at the Open Session earlier this week that, as in the 2020 survey, workload is once again a key issue emerging from the staff survey. The Workload Review Group will reconvene shortly to look in detail at the survey results, and other University Committees – e.g. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Race Equality Strategy Group, Health and Safety Committee – will also take an in-depth look at the results to inform their work. The Senior Management Team and University Management Group will also reflect further on the results. A new Staff Experience Committee will coordinate the response to the staff survey results across the University.
Further updates, including more detailed analysis for example of the results for different staff groups, will follow in due course.
Best wishes
Karl and Tracey
