Dear colleagues,
Further to earlier calls inviting applications for the roles of Dean for Quality Assurance and Enhancement, and Dean for Student Support and Experience, I am delighted to announce that, following a competitive internal recruitment process, the following appointments have been made:
- Dean for Quality Assurance and Enhancement: Professor Steve Tucker, effective from 1st November 2022
- Dean for Student Support and Experience: Dr Jason Bohan, effective from 12th December 2022
Steve will lead on quality assurance and enhancement across the University, chairing the Quality Assurance Committee and working closely with Schools to take forward strategic areas for our ongoing enhancement. He will work in close partnership with Academic Services building on the revised working practices so that the University can continue to demonstrate success in QA and QE.
Steve will already be well known to many of you from his work as the institutional Quality Assurance Agency Scotland Enhancement Theme lead, having taken forward a whole range of excellent work for Resilient Learning Communities. He will also be known to others through his work in the School of MMSN in pharmacology and medical sciences.
Dr Jason Bohan succeeds Professor Abbe Brown and will continue to take forward key institutional priorities including continued improvements in the National Student Survey, addressing the degree awarding gap, and ensuring focus on equality, diversity and inclusion across the Education portfolio.
Jason will also be well known to many of you from his role as Director of Education in the School of Psychology and as an active member of our Quality Assurance Committee. Jason is Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology specialising in the psychology of language and pedagogy.
I am very much looking forward to working with Steve and Jason in these roles, and I am sure you will join me in congratulating them on their appointments.
