For Aberdeen graduate Adrian Hutcheon, studying law was perhaps always going to be his first port of call given his family's legal heritage.
The son of well-known Aberdeen property lawyer Alex Hutcheon, Adrian has been working for the family company, Alex Hutcheon & Co, for the past six years since leaving school.
Now, as he graduates with First Class Honours in Scots Law, he will continue to build on his experience in the business as he works towards achieving the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice. He will then begin a two-year legal traineeship with the firm.
Adrian’s first role in Alex Hutcheon & Co was in the estate agency department, dealing predominantly with estate agency for the marketing of properties and assisting clients with the sale of their property. As he started his law degree, he moved into the company’s conveyancing department, assisting with legal work in relation to the sale and purchase of property.
He then progressed into the private client department, where he worked on the drafting of wills, administration of executry estates and power of attorneys.
Adrian said: “I am immensely proud to have worked in the family business for the last six years and to have the opportunity to progress my career within the firm will allow me to continue to ensure that clients’ property and legal interests are met to the highest standard.
“The family business will continue to operate out of the heart of the city of Aberdeen, which it has done so for the last 22 years. The length of time the business has operated is testament to the hard work of the employees and partners of the firm and the high standard of service provided to clients.
“I’m looking forward to the future in assisting clients new and old with their legal and property needs.”
