Terrorism awareness training

Terrorism awareness training

The UK Government has launched a free training package that aims to help people tackle terrorism.

The Action Counters Terrorism (ACT) E-Learning package provides advice on how to spot the signs of suspicious behaviour, and understand what to do in the event of a major incident.

It is designed to equip people with knowledge that can help across a range of scenarios, whether in the workplace, at home or in public.

The fight against terrorism in the UK is one where the public can make a valuable contribution in being vigilant and reporting suspicious behaviour.  As such, staff are encouraged to access and complete this training, which can help keep people safe.

The package comprises a series of video-based modules which together takes 45-50 minutes to complete.  Progress be saved after each module and returned to later.

The core modules are:

  • Introduction to Terrorism
  • Identifying Security Vulnerabilities
  • How to identify and respond to suspicious behaviour
  • How to identify and deal with a suspicious item
  • What to do in the event of a bomb threat
  • How to respond to a firearms or weapons attack

To access the training, please click here and then on the second button on the home page (‘I have already registered’)

To run the videos you may need to turn off Pop Up Blockers, which can be done on the page header (‘Tools’ - ‘Pop Up Blocker’ - ‘Turn off Pop Up Blocker’). Once finished there is an option to complete and print off your own training completion certificate.
