Celebrating Armed forces Reserves Day

Celebrating Armed forces Reserves Day

On Wednesday 26 June the University will celebrate Armed forces Reserves Day, as a special thank you to our staff and students who are Reservists.

Reservists give up their spare time to serve in the Reserve Forces, balancing their civilian life with a military career to ensure that should their country require them, they would be ready to serve as part of the military.

The Reserve Forces make up approximately one sixth of our Armed Forces personnel and as such are integral to protecting the nation’s security at home and overseas, particularly providing capability in specialist areas such as medical and cyber.

Reservists are currently supporting operations worldwide. Reserves Day was created to highlight and recognise the valuable contribution Reservists make to our Armed Forces.

On Reserves Day our Reservists wear their uniform in their civilian life, so if any member of staff or student who is a Reservist wishes to do so they are welcome to wear their uniform that day.

If you are a Reservist and are willing to have your photograph taken, please contact Catherine Cook c.cook@abdn.ac.uk, HR Partner who will arrange photography.
