University achieves highest ever ranking in Complete University Guide

The University of Aberdeen has achieved its highest ever position in the Complete University Guide league table.

The University’s climb from 40th to 28th in the UK is the biggest rise of any of last year’s top 50 universities and takes it into the top 30 of the main league table for the first time.  In Scotland, the University has risen from 7th to 4th place, from 14 institutions.

Meanwhile, six subjects have been ranked in the top ten in the UK, the full details of which will be revealed when the 2019 league tables are published online tomorrow (Wednesday, April 25).

The Complete University Guide is based on ten measures, which include student satisfaction, research quality, student-to-staff ratio, spending on student facilities, and graduate prospects. This year’s list is the first to provide the first full ranking of all 131 eligible UK universities.

Professor Sir Ian Diamond, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen, said: “I am delighted that the University has achieved its best ever result in the Complete University Guide, rising 12 places to make it into the top 30 for the first time.

“This strong performance is testament to our commitment to delivering world-class teaching and research, alongside a rich and fulfilling student experience.

“The UK’s higher education sector has become increasingly competitive in recent years, and it is thanks to the efforts of all of our staff that we have performed so well in this important and respected league table.”
