The University of Aberdeen’s Grants Academy provides support to staff in the submission and management of research grants. The Academy is available to all research-active staff and is delivered in partnership by Research and Innovation and the Schools. The Academy supports all stages of the research grant cycle, from ideas conception, to supporting the development of high quality funding applications, through to helping to realise the full impact of the extensive research activities undertaken across the University.
Support available through the Grants Academy
The Academy supports colleagues in these endeavours through a range of activities including: the opportunity to discuss early research ideas through Grants Foundry events, mentoring for early career researchers, grant writing workshops, arranging mock interviews and assisting with drafting rebuttals to reviewers’ responses. A library of successful grant applications has been collated and is available to staff on a loan basis. The Grants Academy also arranges regular research funding workshops and external funder visits, the MRC, the Wellcome Trust and the Leverhulme Trust having all visited the University in the last 12 months – keep up to date on upcoming events by checking the Grants Academy calendar.
How to access Grants Academy support
Staff should contact their relevant School or Institute Director of Research or Research & Innovation Business Development Officer (BDO) – contact details are available here – who will be able to provide specific information on the resources available to staff and provide direct assistance.
