Richard Thompson OBE, Ivor Novello award winner and member of '60s folk outfit Fairport Convention will share his expertise as part of this two day workshop.
One of the University’s recent Honorary Graduates, Richard Thompson OBE,founding member of the 60s folk group Fairport Convention, Grammy-nominated recording artist and Ivor Novello Award winner for his consistently high standard in songwriting, will be running a masterclass at the University on songwriting over the weekend of 27–28 September 2014.
Participants will undertake immersive songwriting under Richard’s guidance, working on material which will then be shared with others in the group at an informal presentation on the Sunday. Various aspects of song-craft will be covered, drawing on the rich vein of traditional song from the North-East.
