Time once again for the University Gilbert and Sullivan Society to tread the Arts Centre boards: this time with one of the most unfailingly popular operas in the canon, The Pirates of Penzance.
This riotous send-up of Victorian melodrama was a hit in 1880 and still sparkles today, as innocent maidens, feartie policemen and swashbuckling but soft-hearted buccaneers cavort together in some of the most brilliantly comic episodes Gilbert and Sullivan ever created.
The opera runs from Wednesday 12 to Saturday 15 February, performances 7:30pm and also 2:30pm on the Saturday, seats £15 (concessions £12). Get your tickets from Aberdeen Box Office, from any member of the committee (e-mail info@gilbertandsullivansociety.co.uk) or from your local resident pirate in Taylor C2 or at j.d.mcclure@virgin.net. See you in Penzance!
