Fabric of the Land is a quest to investigate the inspiration given to art by examination of characteristics of the physical landscape.
Fabric of the Land in 2009 celebrates the complementary visualisation of Earth’s geology as manifest in landscape from which artists derive their inspiration with the science associated with the same subjects. It encourages investigation that embraces micro to giga-scale features, from fossil pollen grains and clay particles to mountain chains and Earth’s structure. No natural occurrence of colour, form or structure is "off limits" as subject matter. In 2013 Fabric of the Land provides an open brief for emerging and established artists to express their inspiration from the landscape and escape from the constraints of accuracy and precision that are inherent in scientific description.More information on Fabric of the Land
