A course designed to help members of staff close to their planned retirement date or within 3 years of retirement.

Retirement is recognised as a time of transition and change.

A retirement course will be held on Thursday 30 May 2013 from 10am to 4pm in Room 265, MacRobert Building, Old Aberdeen.

The aims of the course are:

  • To consider your attitudes to ageing, change and retirement and your approach to retirement in the light of these attitudes
  • To consider what leads to a successful retirement based on the research literature and to relate this to your own situation
  • To start to prepare an action plan to take forward your retirement plans and aspirations

This course is designed to help members of staff who are close to their planned retirement date or within 3 years of retirement.

The course refers to the importance of planning finances but does not provide detailed financial advice and guidance and members of staff may also wish to seek financial advice from an independent financial adviser.

The course will be delivered by Dr Harriet Mowat, a gerontologist who has considerable expertise in working in the field of retirement and ageing and Dr Donald Mowat a former GP.
