This workshop series is designed for researchers at the University of Aberdeen to enhance the societal and economic impact of their research and more effectively engage end users throughout the research process.
Building the capacity of research staff to enhance the impact of their work is essential to fulfil the University of Aberdeen Strategic Plan, which promotes impact driven research within interdisciplinary themes, and recognises the unique needs of different disciplinary groups, ranging from biomedical sciences to performance arts.
Much effort is currently focussed on measuring and attributing impact retrospectively for submission to REF2014. However, there is an urgent need to start looking forward to the next REF in parallel with this effort, to build capacity for researchers to design and undertake new research with impact in mind.
Topics covered:
- Research Design Tools: Problem Tree Analysis and Logical Framework Analysis
- Public Engagement as a Pathway to Impact
- Working more effectively with end users of research: Working with the right people and building lasting partnerships
- Building effective interisciplinary teams, including stakeholders, to deliver impact.
- Approaches to impact in interdisciplinary research
- Developing a pathways to impact statement
- Building and managing research teams
