This Briefing Session will provide an overview of developments in Open Access (OA) publishing and describe initiatives at the University to guide staff through the OA publishing process.

Library Services invites academic and other staff to a briefing session on Open Access (OA) Publishing on 10 April 2013. 

This session will provide an overview of recent developments in OA publishing, and will describe initiatives here at the University to guide academics through the OA publishing process.

The Finch Report on expanding access to published research findings and the recently revised RCUK Policy on Open Access are transforming the academic publishing landscape. Government policy, open access funder mandates and other developments are impacting directly on the publication of research in the form of journal articles and conference papers.

The sessions will be led by Chris Banks, University Librarian, and Melanie Bickerton, Information Consultant and Site Services Manager at the Medical Library and will include a Q&A session. All sessions will take place in Meeting Room 1, 7th floor, The Sir Duncan Rice Library.

How to Register

The library will run two sessions during the day:

Session 1: 10:30am to 12pm

Session 2: 1pm to 2:30pm
