The UK Government is leading a seminar on the Nagoya Protocol, which has introduced new rules on the transportation of biological materials for research
The UK has recently ratified the Nagoya Protocol, part of the Convention on Biodiversity, meaning that there are now strict rules in place as to how UK researchers can collect biological materials in other countries and take them back to the UK.
This includes all biological materials for basic and applied research as well as that used with commercial intentions (i.e. development of medicines, nutraceuticals, cosmetics etc.)
Katie Beckett from the UK Government's Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy is leading a seminar on the Nagoya Protocol on Thursday 23 February at 11:30 am, Room 224, Sir Duncan Rice Library.
The seminar has been organised by Professor Marcel Jaspars and is free to attend.
