Join us to discuss the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based technologies, including Digital Twins, which have emerged as transformative tools for studying environmental changes across various ecosystems.
The University of Aberdeen is delighted to hold an in-conversation event entitled ‘AI for Sustainability, Climate, and Agriculture’ on Friday 22 March. This event invites the public to engage with thought leaders and experts at the forefront of AI and sustainability to explore AI’s transformative role in sustainability, climate, and agriculture innovation, and be part of the conversation on emerging technologies.
The event will include a keynote talk by Dr Nick Schurch Principal Statistician for Ecology & Environmental Science at the James Hutton Institute. It will be followed by a panel discussion that delves into how data and AI can offer solutions, tools, and systems by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to address significant environmental challenges. The panel includes:
- Professor Georgios Leontidis (panel chair), an expert in Machine Learning, who is Director of the University of Aberdeen’s Data & AI interdisciplinary challenge area.
- Professor David Burslem, an expert in ecology, who is Director of the University of Aberdeen’s Environment & Biodiversity interdisciplinary challenge area.
- Dr Milan Markovic, an interdisciplinary researcher specialising in transparency, accountability, compliance, and trustworthiness within complex socio-technical systems underpinned by novel technologies such as AI.
- Emma Morrison, the University of Aberdeen’s Turing Liaison and member of the Research Development Team.
Join us in exploring the limitless possibilities that AI offers in creating a more sustainable and resilient future and be part of the conversation that shapes the future of technology for the benefit of our planet.
This event is in-person, please register on Eventbrite (link below). A recording will be available shortly after the event.
