John Slight’s talk will explore Britain’s relationship with Islam in the British Empire,
and will develop a transnational methodology to re-examine Islam’s contribution
to Britain's imperial and religious experiences in the 19th and 20thh centuries. He
is about to embark on research project on British converts to Islam, 1857-1960
The Centre for Global Security and Governance brings together academic experts,
policy makers, and students from across the University of Aberdeen, the
United Kingdom, and the globe to define, analyse, and propose remedies to the
most pressing security challenges the world faces in the 21st century.
