Through its Secondary School Outreach Programme, the Centre for Global Security and Governance fosters links with secondary schools in Aberdeen in order to raise awareness of the greatest challenges the world faces in the 21st century.
It gives teenagers the chance to discuss current events and pressing world issues with experts in the field from inside and outside the ivory tower. The Secondary School Outreach Programme is coordinated by Sarah Cooper Weber.

On 18 March 2011, Anne Allmeling, a journalist working for Deutsche Welle and Deutschlandfunk and currently based in the Middle East, shared insights with students of St. Margaret's School for Girls of her work as a journalist in the Middle East. She discussed with them the direction in which the Arab World has been moving during the Arab Spring.
