Item Description |
Le Messe: ['Le Messie', 'The Messiah']. Skinner's footnote reads: The Finest Violin in the World Now the property of Mr Crawford Trinity, Leith, who purchased it for £2000'. The violin was made in Italy by Antonio Stradivari in 1716, and is highly valued not only because it is a wonderful instrument, but, curiously, because it is in superb condition - it has never been played.
