The above is written on the back of the letter card Skinner sent to the gardener James Macdonald. Macdonald was the gardener at Allanvale Cemetery, Aberdeen, where Skinner was buried in 1927. He was married to Skinner's cousin, Jessie, who was the subject of Skinner's melody, The Rosebud of Allanvale'. The note is prophetic - The Rosebud of Allanvale is still played today. |
