| Item Description | Skinner sent this card to James Macdonald, gardener at Allanvale cemetery, Aberdeen, from Dunfermline. Macdonald was married to Skinner's cousin, Jessie. Friday, Dear Jamie, I am hopeful of yr Consort's betterment - but God sake be careful of a chill. Private - Stirling over £50 some puny houses too - picture mad here - Kindly send a man to put plots right 25 Victoria St: Especially at the front. Scott Skinner notes that he took in more than £50 when performing at Stirling. At this time, the cinema was hugely popular and Skinner notes the effect this has on his audience, which is not nearly as large as it might have been. He also refers to the house he has just bought at 25 Victoria Street, Aberdeen. He asks James Macdonald to send a gardener to it. This was the only house he ever owned, and he lived there until his death in 1927. |
