National recognition for supporting work experience

The University of Aberdeen has been rated 15th in the Best 50 Universities for Work Experience 2024 at the national RateMyPlacement Awards.

Five hundred of the industry’s finest came together last week to celebrate the outstanding achievements of employers and universities in undergraduate work experience.

RateMyPlacement.co.uk is the UK’s leading jobs board for students seeking paid placements, internships and insight schemes. Based solely on student-written reviews, the awards recognise the universities that excel in the resources and support they provide to students.

“This award recognises the amazing amount of work we are doing to grow high quality and impactful paid internships experiences exclusively for University of Aberdeen students,” said Assistant Director and Head of Careers, Tracey Innes.

“It comes at a great time, when we are doing even more for our students. A total of 22 internships have just started in the region, with students from almost all areas of the University completing projects in nature jobs, arts and culture and in small to medium sized organisations.

“In addition, we have just launched applications for 13 Interns with Impact Internships opportunities in the third sector for students to complete during summer 2024. We anticipate a further 40 opportunities going live in the next month, again for summer 2024, available to both undergraduate and postgraduate opportunities.

“Being ranked within the top 20 is a fantastic achievement. It is testament to the University’s commitment to providing work-based learning opportunities to our students and to the hard work of everyone in the team in delivering it.”
