Hello, my name is Victoria!

Originally from Essex, I've come to Aberdeen for my PhD to study eco-evolutionary genomics relating to the conservation of Scottish freshwater pearl mussels.

I have also studied in Southampton, Gothenburg, and Longyearbyen, Svalbard. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time walking my dog Ziggy in the fantastic landscapes Aberdeenshire has to offer.

I am neurodivergent and a first-gen researcher. As a result, I am passionate about creating an accessible and inclusive environment for every community here in Aberdeen!

My name is Amaka Akinteye, a second-year PhD student in Finance. My research is focused on the impact of FinTech and political ideologies on the survival of banks. This means I spend most of my time learning how these variables interact and improving my personal, academic, and professional skills. For me, the journey so far has been incredible because I have 'the best supervisory team' and a whole lot of amazing staff at the Business School.

I have an MSc in finance and investment from Sheffield Hallam University UK and obtained a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, UK. I am a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK. Before my PhD, I gained over fifteen years of work experience in academia and corporate environments.

My picture shows 50% of my PhD life, while for the other half, I work part-time as a business school administrative assistant, spend time as an ambassador of Jesus Christ, write poems and manage my blog www.amakakinteye.org . I enjoy gospel music, swimming, lawn tennis, cycling, and cooking.

School of Divinity, History, Philosophy & Art History

Hi! I am Freya Juul Jensen (she/her) and am part of the School of Divinity, History, Philosophy, and Art History (DHPA). I am currently working on my PhD in Art history while being a teaching assistant, but originally came to Aberdeen in 2018 for my MA in English and History of Art.

My research is concerned with representations of female-female love and desire in nineteenth and twentieth century Britain and France. Some of my academic interests are queer theory and temporality, sexology, classical reception, and female homosociality.

My name is Tomisin Fadamoro, I am from Nigeria and a second year PhD student at the School of Education. I have a bachelor's degree in microbiology and dual master's degrees—one in Microbiology and the other in Educational Evaluation. My academic journey reflects my commitment to both the scientific exploration of Microbiology and the enhancement of educational methodologies.

Currently, my research focuses on the integration of blended learning into the STEM curriculum in Nigeria. I am deeply passionate about advancing STEM education in my home country, aiming to contribute to innovative and effective teaching methods that can empower the next generation of Nigerian scientists and thinkers.

Hello! My name is Lizeth Moreno, and I am entering my third year as a doctoral researcher at the School of Law. My research focuses on developing a viable regulatory framework for conscientious objection in medicine in Mexico, where I am from. Some of my research interests include international human rights law, public international law, and constitutional law.

When I am not focused on research and preparing for an academic career, I enjoy swimming, learning languages, and travelling.

Hello! My name is Abigail Kovaleski, I am apart of the School of Language, Literature, Music, and Visual Culture (LLMVC) and am entering into my second year as a Doctoral Researcher. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Masters of Letters, both in Literature. Aside from my role as rep I am an editor on the Universities Postgraduate Journal, Granite.

My research sits at the intersection of poetry, divinity, ecology, and my love for American author Mary Oliver. Outside of my academic life I love writing poetry, hugging trees, and walking with no end point in mind. If you are considering postgraduate studies or have been with UofA for years, I am here to help you. My Name is Anar AlRuwaie. I am from Kuwait. I am a PGR Representative from the School of Language, Literature, Music, and Visual Culture (LLMVC). I am entering into my third year as a Doctoral Researcher. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in English Language Education, a Master Degree in TESOL from the University of Glasgow, and another Master Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Kuwait University. Before that, I worked as English Language Teacher for almost 10 years teaching intermediate schools' students. I also worked as an English Language Instructor and taught Speaking, Listening, and Advanced Grammar in a foundation program at Algonquin Canadian College. I was also a Co-conference Chair of Languages in TEFL Kuwait.

My PhD research revolves around the use and the impact of Artificial Intelliegnce software technologies on the improvement of speaking skills of EFL students. Also, my research interests are in the following areas: Assessments using Videogames, Teaching Grammar using songs, and Digital Literacies.

School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition

My name is Lara and I'm originally from the Scottish Highlands. I have strong ties to The University having graduated with both MA English and MSc Human Nutrition, before completing a temporary Teaching Assistant role within the SMMSN. My diverse background has led me to an interdisciplinary project that I am truly passionate about, exploring the relationship between glycaemic control and exercise chronobiology across different phases of the menstrual cycle. Outside of academia, I like to keep active with bodybuilding, pole dancing and swing dancing. I also enjoy reading and spending time with my friends.
