Biography
Dr Oleksandr Menshykov is the Director of Undergraduate Teaching in the School of Engineering at the University of Aberdeen. He is a Fellow of AdvanceHE, a Chartered Engineer, and a Member of Institution of Mechanical Engineers. After graduating in Applied Mathematics from Kharkiv National University (Ukraine) in 2000, Dr Menshykov did his PhD and DSc in Solid Mechanics at Timoshenko Institute of Mechanics (Kyiv, Ukraine). Prior to joining the University of Aberdeen in 2005, he was a holder of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Fellowship at the University of Stuttgart (Germany).

Solid Mechanics, Materials Science and Applied Mathematics, including Non-Linear Contact Fracture Mechanics, Wave Propagation, Theory of Diffraction, Boundary Elements Methods, Galerkin Methods, Hypersingular and Singular Integrals, Iterative Optimisation Algorithms, Composite Materials, Reinforced Concrete, Design of Layered Pipelines and Umbilicals.
