Dr Wiles qualified as a doctor in 2008 having studied at both the University of Cambridge (MA in History and Philosophy of Science) and Imperial College London (MBBS with Distinction in Clinical Sciences). Between 2008 and 2012 he worked as a junior doctor in North Hampshire, where he obtained his MRCP qualification (2011) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Preventive Cardiology (2012).
In 2012 he was awarded a National Training Number in Cardiology (Wessex Deanery) where he worked for several years. During his Higher Specialty Training he completed a PhD at the University of Southampton. His research, which concerned the development of a personalised sensing vector for the subcutaneous ICD, work for which received the Young Investigator's Award at Heart Rhythm Congress in 2018.
He joined the Specialty Register for Cardiology (Electrophysiology and Devices) in 2020, after completing dedicated Fellowships in Electrophysiology at both University Hospital Southampton and Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
Dr Wiles then completed a 12 month Fellowship in the Advanced Ventricular Arrhythmia Training and Research (AVATAR) Program at St George's Hospital in London, before taking up a Locum Consultant Post at King's College Hospital.
He was appointed to his current roles in NHS Grampian and the University of Aberdeen in May 2022. In 2023 he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians London.
