Note: The University of Aberdeen, Mumbai is currently in the process of obtaining the Letter of Commencement from the UGC. Fee payment will only be required once this approval is received.
Once submitted, your application undergoes a holistic evaluation based on:

  • Overall suitability for the chosen programme

The Admissions Team carefully reviews:

  • Academic transcripts (Class 10, 11, and 12)
  • Personal statement
Note: If a student has not yet received their Class 12 marksheet, the application will be assessed based on available academic records. Final admission will be subject to submission of the Class 12 results as per eligibility criteria.

Application Fee Benefit: Apply before 30 April 2026 and get a ₹2000 application fee waiver (zero application fee).
6. Admission policy

Each application is assessed against the prescribed eligibility criteria for the respective programme. Applicants meeting all requirements will receive an unconditional offer, while those with pending documents or results may receive a conditional offer. Ineligible applicants will be notified formally.

All admission decisions are processed through the official admissions system, and applicants will be informed of their status via email.

Postgraduate

FAQs

1. How does the university define domestic and international applicants?

Applicants who are Indian citizens currently residing in India are classified as domestic students when applying for admission to the University of Aberdeen, Mumbai.

Note: To qualify as a domestic applicant, you must hold Indian citizenship and be living in India at the time of application.

Applicants who are Foreign Nationals, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), or Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) residing outside India are classified as international students and may apply for admission under the international category.

2. What is the university’s fee refund policy?

The University of Aberdeen, Mumbai, follows a transparent and fair fees refund policy in line with UGC Guidelines. Tuition fee refunds are determined based on the date of withdrawal in relation to the officially notified last date of admission.

If a student withdraws 15 days or more before the last date of admission, a maximum deduction of 5% of fees or INR 1,000 (whichever is lower) will apply. Refunds will be processed to the original payer’s account within the prescribed timeline.

3. Are the programmes at the Mumbai campus UGC-approved?

Yes. The University of Aberdeen Mumbai campus operates under a Letter of Intent granted by India's University Grants Commission (UGC) and is aligned with India's National Education Policy 2020. All programmes meet UGC requirements and deliver the same curriculum as the UK campus, ensuring you receive an internationally recognised UK degree while studying in India.

4. Is this a franchise model or an actual University of Aberdeen campus?

This is a full branch campus of the University of Aberdeen, not a franchise. You'll be taught by University of Aberdeen faculty alongside internationally recognised scholars and Indian academics. The curriculum, quality standards, and degree awarded are identical to those at our UK campus, maintaining Aberdeen's 530-year legacy of academic excellence right here in Mumbai.

5. Do I need to take IELTS or other English language tests?

As all programmes are taught in English, proficiency is essential. However, specific English language requirements vary by programme and your educational background. Indian students who have completed their schooling in English medium typically meet language requirements through their Class XII English scores. Please check individual programme entry requirements or contact our admissions team for guidance.

6. What scholarships are available at the Mumbai campus?
For the academic year 2026–27, all enrolled students will be eligible for the Aberdeen Pioneer Scholarship, which provides a ₹2,00,000 (Rs 2 lakh) tuition waiver for each year of study.
  • Automatically applicable to all UG/PG students enrolling in the 2026–27 intake and awarded as ₹2 lakh reduction in tuition fees and is applicable across all programmes.
  • Scholarship is applied at the point of admission offer and reflected in the fee statement

7. What is the difference between MA (Hons) and BSc (Hons) degrees?

Both are four-year undergraduate honours degrees, but they differ in focus and approach. MA (Hons) programmes like Business Management and Economics emphasise theory, analysis, and broader contextual understanding in humanities and social sciences. BSc (Hons) programmes like Computing Science and Data Science focus on scientific methodology, technical skills, and practical applications in STEM fields. Both qualify you for postgraduate study and global careers.

8. Why are Aberdeen's undergraduate programmes four years instead of three?

Scottish undergraduate degrees follow a distinctive four-year honours structure, offering greater depth, flexibility, and breadth than three-year programmes. 10. What is the offer letter turnaround time (TAT)?
The typical turnaround time (TAT) for issuing an offer letter is up to 4 weeks from the date of successful application submission and document receipt.
11. How many days do I have to accept the offer?
The specific deadline to accept your offer will be clearly mentioned on the offer letter.
Applicants must accept their offer within the stated timeline to secure their seat.
12. What happens if I do not accept the offer within the stipulated time period?
If you do not accept the offer within the specified deadline, the offer will lapse, and you will no longer be able to accept it.
13. Can I request reinstatement of the offer letter if it has lapsed?
Yes, the offer may be reinstated if seats are still available in the programme. However, we strongly advise you to accept the offer at the earliest, as seats are limited for each programme.
14. Will students who are studying at the University of Aberdeen, Mumbai gain access to the global alumni network?
