Experts from the Aberdeen University Centre for Energy Law Participated in the UK Government’s consultation on “Designing a climate compatibility checkpoint for future oil and gas licensing in the UK Continental Shelf”. This consultation concerns a crucial policy development on reconciling domestic production of oil and gas with the statutory Net Zero goals in the UK. AUCEL colleagues welcome the progress, but call for an elaboration of the vague proposals and integration of environmental principles into the new policy. The AUCEL’s response to the consultation can be accessed here.
